Nigerian youths to be trained to become small business owners and to be given seed empowerment tools under the federal Government program, PYES, have accused the Government of denying them such wonderful opportunity as earlier promised and called the PYES programme a scam.
The Pyes programme of President Buhari, coordinated by Nasir S Adhama which aimed at creating at least 774,000 empowerment opportunities for Nigerian youths through direct youth empowerment over a minimum period of two years opened its portal for Nigerian youths from ages 18-40 yrs since 2018 last year ,closed its portal early this year.
Successful applicants who had registered for the program were notified on three occasions, that they had passed the first, second and third phase of screening.
Mr Nasir S Adhama who is the coordinator of the program had announced that the PYES program was ready to kick-start in 12 pilots states namely; Katsina,Rivers, Gombe, Bauchi, Ogun, Edo, Imo,Yobe, Borno, Kano, Jigawa and Adamawa.
However, its over 8 months now,and there is no word from the Government ,PYES Management and Mr Adama Nasir who is the coordinator of the program. It is quite disheartening, discouraging and highly deceptive.
Applicants who registered for the programme took to our Facebook Group ( N-POWER COMMUNITY) to express their displeasure over the the way the PYES Programme is been run.
One Macsolo said “They initiated that because of the election and now it’s over, what do u expect. Who cursed Naija?”
Another applicant named Ifinibie said ” FGN said something about the program at Npower build center. It will soon start”.
“Electoral scam,we are use to it” said John
Empowermentopportunites.com has learnt that the PYES website has since been deleted. Our findings also suggest that Mr Adhama who is the coordinator of the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme may not be in charge of the program anymore. We compared two snapshot of his twitter handle, one taken months back.
From the first photo below,in his twitter bio,its written “Special Assistant to the @NGRPresident,@MBuhari on Youth & Students Affairs“.But the recent photo had no bio. This might suggest Mr Adhama might have been relieved from his duty.No wonder why applicants of the PYES Scheme are yet to get further directives.
Second Photo below recently taken.
Empowermentopportunities.com urges the President to urgently intervene and ensure officials did not turn the programme into “a monumental government-sponsored scam.”
