Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) 2019/2020 for Youth in the Promise Zone (SAINT LOUIS)
The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) is for youth in the Promise Zone to acquire awareness, training and engagement as community leaders; to recognize critical needs and issues; to learn how to develop and implement plans to address those needs and issues through policy; and to acquire the skills and support to improve their well-being and resiliency.
All youth ages 11 to 17 years of age in the Promise Zone are eligible for YEP.
They should have a desire and commitment to learn and become leaders of their community.
One Saturday per month from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
Seven (7) additional workshops, events, and trips/tours will be planned as schedule permits.
January 25 February 22 March 28 April 25 May 30 June 27 July 25
August 22 September 26.
During this program, each youth will complete a leadership plan. Participants will also complete a group project to bring awareness to an issue related to Saint Louis.
Our vision is for the youth to be engaged, realize true potential, and assume leadership roles in their communities for a better Saint Louis for future generations to come.
First priority will be for youth in the following zip codes: 63113, 63115, and 63120. Second priority will be for youth living in the federally designated St. Louis Promise Zone as well as the portions of St. Louis City that are not in the Promise Zone.
