Applications are invited for recruitment into various positions in the Western Cape Government public service.

The Western Cape Government creates laws for and provides services to the people of the Western Cape. We work closely with the national government and municipalities in the Western Cape to ensure that the citizens of the province have access to the services, facilities and information they need.

When you apply for a position at the Western Cape Government, the job’s salary will usually be mentioned in the advert. Here you will find the current salary scales (.pdf) for public servants as determined by the Public Service Bargaining Council.

Salary Levels 1 to 10

  • Consists of a basic salary and 13th cheque.
  • All inclusive salary package that includes medical assistance and pension fund contribution (deducted from the salary every month). Employees can apply for a housing allowance.

Middle Management Levels and Higher

  • Consists of a basic salary.
  • The Cost-to-Employer (CTE) remuneration packages include benefits such as medical assistance, housing assistance, pension fund contribution and 13th cheque.

Senior Management and Occupational Specific Despensation Levels

  • Consists of a basic salary.
  • The flexible remuneration packages may be structured for benefits such as motor vehicle allowance, medical assistance, housing allowance, non-pensionable cash allowance and 13th cheque.

Please Note: Individuals who are appointed on contract receive a basic monthly salary plus 37% in lieu of benefits.

B. Shortlisting phase

  1. Once the closing date has been reached, all qualifying applications will be reviewed and applicants will be shortlisted. If you’ve been shortlisted, you’ll be invited to an interview.
  2. You will also be required to complete a Z83 form and supply certified copies of your ID and qualifications, as well as other documentation.

C. Interview phase

  1. At your interview, you’ll be greeted by a panel, who will ask you various questions relating to the position, as well as your employment history and personal interests. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
  2. After all candidates have been interviewed, the panel will confer and decide who the individual best-suited to the position is.

D. Acceptance phase

  1. The successful candidate will be contacted and offered an acceptance letter or a letter of appointment. The candidate will need to sign and return the acceptance letter within five working days.
  2. If you have not received any feedback within three months of the closing date of the job advert, please consider your application unsuccessful.
