MOTAC Offers Hotel Initiative As Temporary Accommodation Of Employees According To Act 446
MOTAC and KSM have launched an initiative to temporarily house workers in hotels, as part of efforts to curb Covid-19 clusters within employee accommodation. The move is expected to assist business continuity for hotels, with applications open to those interested to participate.
Temporary placement of workers in hotels in accordance with the Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodation and Workers’ Standards Act (Act 446) is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and the Department of Manpower Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM), Ministry of Human Resources in an effort to address transmission COVID-19 outbreaks caused by workplace clusters especially in employee accommodation.
Temporary placement of employees in hotels is the best alternative at the moment which can indirectly help the business continuity of hotel operators affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Applications are open to interested hotels that meet the requirements under Act
446. Hotels that have registered with MOTAC only need to submit the application directly to the email [email protected] , while for those who do not need to register with MOTAC first at www.spip.gov.my before the application is extended to JTKSM.
HOTEL SELECTION CRITERIA
1) Hotels REGISTERED with MOTAC 2) Hotels NOT REGISTERED need to register with MOTAC before being extended to JTKSM JOINT INITIATIVE
System standards are coordinated by JTKSM
Only involves ROOMS and does not include the cost of water, electricity, laundry, dining and other facilities
Agreement between employer / centralized accommodation provider with hotel (B2B)
Room rental cost is RM200.00 per month / person and an additional RM20.00 per month / person for water and electricity bill costs
