How to apply for SASSA R350 reapplication / Re-apply pending 2022

Covid-19 SRD grant is extended for a year April 2022 to march 2023 and reapplication / Re-apply application are now opened .People who were receiving the R350 social relief of distress (SRD) grant will have to reapply for it, the department of social development announced on Friday.

The department said during his 2022 state of nation address, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the Covid-19 SRD grant would be extended for a year from April 2022 to March 2023, “to ensure that no person in this country has to endure the pain and indignity of hunger”.

In order to apply for the sassa reapplication for r350, applicants must first ensure that they meet the new grant requirements, which state that a person must be:

  1. South African citizen, permanent resident, refugee, a holder of a special permit under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit Dispensation; Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation; or an Asylum seeker with a valid section 22 permit or visa;
  2. Between the ages of 18 and 60
  3. Residing in the borders of South Africa
  4. Registered on the Home Affairs database or on Sassa’s social grant database for individuals without ID documents.
  5. Not living in a government Institution or subsidised institution
  6. Not have an income more than R350
  7. Not receiving covid-19 social Relief of Distress

  1. Go to srd.sassa.gov.za
  2. Scroll to the ‘How do I apply for this SRD Grant’ section
  3. Click on the yellow bar which says ‘click here to apply online’
  4. Enter your mobile number
  5. Click “send sms”
  6. Then enter the one time pin that Sassa has sent to the number
  7. Continue the application process by filling in the steps required by Sassa

How to apply for the SRD grant ReApplication on WhatsApp

  1. Add 082 046 8553 as a contact on your phone
  2. Go on WhatsApp and send a message saying ‘hi’ to this number
  3. You will then receive a response and you should then respond saying ‘help’
  4. You will be given various options, reply saying ‘4’
  5. This will lead you to the Unathi Sassa platform message which you should reply ‘SRD’ to
  6. You then have to confirm whether you’re applying for yourself or someone else
  7. Now the actual application begins and you’ll have to submit your name, surname and ID number in the message.
  8. You will then receive a message on Whatsapp stating the next steps.

Here’s How To Get Your OTP On Whatsapp To Access Your Form:

  1. Add 082 046 8553 on WhatsApp
  2. Send a message saying ‘hi’ to this number
  3. Once you receive a response, reply with ‘help’
  4. Then reply with ‘4’
  5. You will then be given a bunch of options and to this you reply with ‘SASSA OTP’
  6. You will then be asked to enter your reference number that you were given
  7. Enter the number
  8. Follow the prompts and you will then retrieve your OTP

OTPs are used to verify that you are linked to the information you have entered when applying for the R350 grant. Once you receive the OTP, you will be able to continue with the R350 grant application.

In order to access or to have your SRD grant application considered, an applicant must grant consent for Sassa to verify his or her identity, residency, income or social security benefits. Applicants will also need to accept the declaration and consent.
