All Learners Placed In Gauteng Schools For 2024

All Learners Placed In Gauteng Schools For 2024 – The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has recently announced that almost all learners in Gauteng have been successfully placed in schools for the 2024 academic year. This is a significant achievement considering the high number of admission applications received by the department. With 99.8% of learners already placed, parents in Gauteng can rest assured that their children will have a school to attend next year.

Challenges Faced by the Gauteng Department of Education

In recent years, the GDE has faced challenges in placing learners due to the ever-increasing number of admissions applications. Gauteng, being an economic hub, attracts many families in search of better opportunities. As a result, the education department has had to deal with a growing demand for school placements. In fact, the GDE experiences a yearly growth of approximately 30,000 learners.

Improved Placement Process

Despite the challenges, the GDE has made significant improvements in its ability to process admission applications. Thanks to the close collaboration with parents and their support, the department has been able to streamline the placement process. The GDE acknowledges the fast growth of the education system in Gauteng and emphasizes the importance of working together with parents to ensure all applications are complete.

Incomplete Applications and Supporting Documents

Although the majority of learners have been successfully placed, there is a small percentage of parents who have incomplete applications. The GDE urges these parents to provide the necessary supporting documents to complete the application process. Failure to do so may result in delays in placing the learners and hinder the department’s ability to implement contingency measures to accommodate all students.

Late Applications and Available Space

For parents who were unable to find placement for their children, the GDE has announced that late applications will be accepted. The opening date for late applications has been set for 18 December 2023, and the closing date is 31 December 2023. However, these late applications will depend on the availability of space in schools. It is recommended that parents submit their applications as soon as possible to increase the chances of securing a spot for their children.

Ensuring a Successful Academic Year

The GDE is confident that by the time schools open on 17 January 2024, all learners who are not yet placed will have a school to attend. While the department strives for 100% placement, they recognize the challenges posed by the rapid growth of the education system in Gauteng. Nevertheless, they are committed to ensuring a successful and enthusiastic academic year for all learners.

The Gauteng Department of Education has achieved an impressive milestone by successfully placing 99% of learners in schools for the 2024 academic year. With the support of parents and their collaboration, the GDE has overcome previous challenges and improved the placement process. For parents who have incomplete applications, it is crucial to provide the necessary supporting documents to ensure their children are placed in schools. Late applications will also be accepted, depending on the availability of space. The GDE remains committed to meeting the growing demand for school placements and providing a quality education for all learners in Gauteng.
