Apply For SASSA R350 Grant Under New Rules

Since South Africa is no longer in a National State of Disaster, the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is administered through the Social Assistance Act rather than the State of Disaster Act. So how can we apply for SRD grants now?

However the SRD grant will expire in March 2023 While SASSA R350 grant application window opens once each month of the year.

Application procedure for the SRD grant

  • Visit SASSA portal srd.sassa.gov.za.
  • Check to see the part labeled “How do I apply for this SRD Grant?”
  • Simply select the yellow tab that reads “click here to apply online.”
  • Input your phone number .
  • Then, you’ll need to select the option to “send sms.”
  • Next, enter the one-time PIN that Sassa has texted to the same number.
  • Carry on with the Sassa application by completing the remaining steps.

Instructions Applying forĀ  the SRD Grant via WhatsApp

  • Send a “hello” message on WhatsApp to the number.
  • When you do, simply reply with the word “help.”

Authorization for Sassa to confirm your identification, residency, income, or social security benefits is required to access or be considered for an SRD grant. All applicants must agree to the statement and consent form.

Current recipients are strongly encouraged to reapply for benefits under the new Act. You can stop worrying about reapplying once you’ve already done it.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a single application rather than filling out numerous ones on different sites. As soon as the application has been submitted successfully, you will receive confirmation.

All requests for SRD grants that arrive by the 15th of each month must be approved or rejected by Sassa. When approval or rejection has been made, the recipient will receive a text message.

The R350 SRD grant, its status, and its payment schedule may all be found on the Skills Portal.
