In todays Latest NSFAS News – Since it offers numerous benefits and covers more than just tuition, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary is highly sought after. Applications for the NSFAS bursary for 2024 are now being accepted.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary application period for the 2024 academic year opened, as announced by Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education, on Tuesday afternoon, November 21. Nzimande provided more information about this application window as well.

Applications for the 2024 NSFAS has  formally open today November 21 and will close on January 31, 2024. Because of the later opening date, applicants have two months—less than usual—to submit their applications.

The Minister announced the opening of NSFAS applications.

NSFAS can only be accessed by application. We are encouraging all potential students to apply now that we are open. Take action now and apply before the last day. 4.

The Minister declared that applicants will not be required to submit any supporting documentation. Additionally, he stated that applying does not require waiting for matric results.

Why was the NSFAS application deadline so late?
Nzimande provided an explanation for the delayed opening of NSFAS applications.

We opened in November in order to give beneficiaries faster turnaround times for decisions that are in line with our evaluation of their financial eligibility, which calls for current SARS data.

To ensure that the required and current information was available during the application season, NSFAS waited for SARS to finish their tax period. This calculated timing supports the organization’s goal of simplifying decision-making procedures while enabling the smooth processing of an NSFAS online application.

Funding decisions for Sassa beneficiaries will be made right away. 35% of NSFAS beneficiaries in 2023 were Sassa beneficiaries.
