CA Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus State Capitol 2023 Summer Internship Program
In collaboration with the CA Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus
Our mission is to provide college students and recent graduates who are dedicated to public service a substantive, meaningful work and educational experience in the California State Legislature, with a goal towards creating and promoting a growing cohort of Capitol staffers and advocates.
About the Internship
Part-time, 10-week internship serving in a legislative office in either the California State Assembly or State Senate. Interns are expected to work with their placement offices from Monday – Thursday and attend weekly APICA seminars on Friday.
Starts on Monday, June 19th and ends on Friday, August 25th.
Interns receive a stipend of $4,960 for the ten-week period. These funds will be provided twice a month, contingent on the successful completion of the program and its academic components.
Week-long orientation, professional and skill development sessions, dedicated mentorship, and access to the APICA network of staff and elected officials
This year’s internship program will be taking place in-person in Sacramento, CA.
Applicant Qualifications
Current college student or recent graduate who is at least 21 years old at the time the internship begins.
Available to work full-time for the duration of the 10-week internship program.

Selection Process

Virtual interviews for select candidates: Friday, March 31 to Friday, April 7, 2023.
Acceptance notification: Monday, April 10th, 2023.
Internship start date: Monday, June 19th, 2023.
Internship end date: Friday, August 25th, 2023.
There is optional extension for interns seeking employment in the Capitol community, subject to agreement with the host office and the APICA board.
