CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: FEMINIST ECONOMICS SUMMER SCHOOL 2020 (Funded)
The Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ), Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS), and the School of Economic and Business Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand are looking for participants to attend our Feminist Economics Summer School!
The 10-day Summer School will take place in late January 2020 in Johannesburg South Africa. This first-of-its-kind Summer School will cover key topics in both micro and macro feminist economics. The curriculum of the Summer School will require intensive planning and engagement with best practices. Approaches to feminist economics that challenge the prevailing dominance of Western forms of knowledge production will be sought. The Summer School will also facilitate discussions on how best the content covered may be applied in the future work of the participants.
Eligibility criteria
• Masters degree in economics or,
• An economist or an economics practitioner and
• Based in South Africa.
We particularly encourage applications from women from diverse backgrounds (in terms of ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, origin, religion, employment status etc.).

Selection Process
There are only 30 places available for this programme. The selection will be made based on the application forms and on the criteria above. We aim to inform all candidates of the outcomes of their applications by the end of November 2019.
Financial assistance
We want to make sure that no one will be excluded because of financial reasons. We have limited funds available for participants. These will be awarded based on indicated need in the participant applications.
