CPUT Transport Arrangements for Emergency Evacuation of Residence

Further to the communication earlier today announcing the emergency evacuation of all Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) residences, please find critical information related to the transport arrangements for tomorrow, Friday, 12 May 2023.
CPUT Management has taken heed of the messages from concerned students who are being intimidated and threatened by protesters while being subjected to an environment of arson and violence.
We have also noted the concerns of worried parents and guardians who are anxious about the safety of their children on campus, and transporting them safely home. We assure you that every care has been taken to ensure the highest service will be offered by the transport service provider, and that our sole interest is the safe evacuation of all students.
Please note the transport logistics below;
The free transport service will begin pickups from all residences at 07:00, 08:00 and 09:00.
Students will be shuttled to a central transport depot where you will be assigned a bus headed to your respective location as from 10:00. There will be shuttles to the Eastern Cape; Kwazulu-Natal; Gauteng; Limpopo; Mpumalanga; Northern Cape; Free State and North West provinces.
Transport Managers will be on site to assist all students and funnel them to the appropriate bus.
Arrival times and drop-off points will be provided by the Transport Managers.
We empathise with all students who may have been left traumatised by the current situation. Emergency evacuations of all campus housing facilities are aimed at ensuring your safety.
Kind Regards
CPUT Management
