DBE PYEI Orientation Training for Phase 4 Cohort 2 Education Assistants and General School Assistants

DBE PYEI Orientation Training for Phase 4 Cohort 2 Education Assistants and General School Assistants

Since its launch in 2020, the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) in the Basic Education Sector has created more than 850 000 job opportunities, aimed at young South Africans from 18 to 35 years old! These youth were chosen to take on roles as Education Assistants and General School Assistants and were placed in Public Ordinary Schools and schools for Learners with Special Education Needs across the nine provinces in the country.

PYEI has not only provided job opportunities to the youth of South Africa but also training that has geared them up for a brighter future!

The Department of Basic Education has launched Phase 4 with 255 100 job opportunities spread across the country. The aim is to place Education Assistants in schools so that they can support teaching and learning in the classroom. General School Assistants will offer support to the schools’ sports, arts and culture programmes and the upkeep and maintenance of school facilities, buildings and grounds.

To get you ready for this next phase, we have compiled comprehensive training material to assist and guide you through this programme.
