If you’re considering studying for a qualification in Information Technology (IT) at one of South Africa’s institutions of higher learning, the University of South Africa (Unisa) is amongst the many institutions that offer this qualification.
Unisa offers an NQF level 6 Diploma in Information Technology with total credits of 360 upon your graduation.

This qualification is available both online and distance learning modes, fortunately, students do have access to tutors across all Unisa campuses should they be in need of academic assistance.
Unisa qualifications are structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
For instance, the maximum period in which a qualification must be completed is 8 years.
Whilst the university does not have a Higher Certificate in IT, however, there are a number of short learning programmes (SLPs) that the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology offers for a year, for IT students from elementary to advanced levels in the field, however, it is important to take a close look into the requirements as they differ.
According to CompTIA, the skills that are mostly in demand in the IT industry include networking, Cloud computing, technical support, Linux, programming languages, User experience (UX), machine learning, and quality assurance.
