GAUTENG 2024 ONLINE ADMISSIONS PLACEMENT PROGRESS REPORT
The 2024 Online AdmissionsGP Placement Period began on Monday, 4 September 2023, and over 220,000 applicants received placement offers. Applicants are reminded that offers must be accepted within 7 school days.
TOTAL APPLICANTS AND PLACEMENT FOR ADMISSIONS 2024
From 4 September 2023, applicants with Complete Applications (verified proof of residence) will begin receiving offers of placement On 4 September 2023, a total of 228 027 parents received placement messages. Of these:
- 99 854 Accepted placement offers as final from one of the schools applied to 1 662.
- Accepted placement offers while awaiting further offers.
- A substantial total of 126 511 parents have not responded to placement offers.
- Parents are reminded to accept placement offers within 7 school days.
- Offers not accepted within 7 schools will be auto-placed at the school with a placement offer closest to the parent’s home address.
ISSUES TO HIGHLIGHT
Parents are reminded that the applicants are ranked for placement according to the Admissions criteria in the following order up to the capacity of each school:
- Home address within school feeder zone closest to the school;
- Siblings in Grade 1 – 7 or 8 – 11 only
- Previous School in feeder zone of the school applied to
As placement offers are received, schools reach capacity and applicants who do not accept an offer in time are transferred to schools with available space.
When all applicants in the above categories are placed, placement offers will be released to applicants in the following categories in the order outlined below up to the capacity of each school with available space:
- Work address within school feeder zone
- Home address within 30 km
- Home address beyond 30 km
Parents with Incomplete applications (no documents or no valid proof of residence will only be able to select a school with available space from December 2023.
Parents are urged to check their cellphones for placement offers Or login to their profiles on www.gdeadmissions.gov.za to view and ACCEPT Placement
offers.
Parents with placement offers who have no access to internet to accept placement offers must visit schools, districts or head office to be assisted to accept offers.
Applicants with Complete Applications and no placement offers are advised to remain calm as offers will be issued consistently until all applicants with complete applications are placed.
The Department received many queries from parents who received more than one placement offer.
We appeal for calm restraint when accepting placement offers. Parents need not rush to accept placement offers, but ensure that offers are accepted within 7’school days.
