Gauteng Ikageleng Land Release Program 2023
As part of the Gauteng Ikageleng Land Release Program also commonly known as the Rapid Land Release Program, the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements will be giving serviced sites to qualifying beneficiaries in the Province. To participate in this program the criteria are as follows:
You must be a South
- South African citizen who has not received a government housing subsidy before
- Have a valid Identity Document
- You must be a first-time homebuyer, this includes public servants.
Target Income Group
Phase 1 – Those individual earning between R3501 to R7000 will receive the land for free.
Phase 2 – Coming Soon
The initial phase of the release will focus primarily on those earning between R3501 – R7000 to ease the burden on struggling households, further details on phases 2 will be provided at a later date.
If you are interested in taking up this opportunity, the first step is to ensure that you are registered on our housing waiting list to participate in the program, you may go to the Departments nearest customer support centre to ensure you are. Beneficiaries of the Ikageleng program will all be drawn from the National Housing Needs Register (housing waiting list).
Those beneficiaries who are offered to participate in this program, agree and receive the land to build for themselves will be removed from the housing waiting list.
Beneficiaries who receive land through the Ikageleng program will need to secure funding to build within 18 months and be required to build for themselves a formal structure within 5 years or return the land back to the Department. The Department will provide building plans for the beneficiaries to choose from, the building plans range from 35m2 to 87m2. Those who benefit from this program will not be able to sell the property within 8 years and the Department will have the first right of refusal.
Potential beneficiaries of the Ikageleng program who are on the housing waiting list and who qualify will receive an SMS from the Department with further information. To check your housing application status and or to apply for any housing subsidy from the Department you may visit the Department at any one of its customer support centres.
