The Gauteng Education Department has implemented a late application process for Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions in 2024. This process allows parents or guardians to apply for their children’s placement in Gauteng schools after the initial application period has closed. This article will guide you through the step-by-step process of applying for Gauteng late applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 in 2024.

Late  Applications

  • To accommodate Late Applications, the Online Admissions Application system will be open from 18 December 2023 to 31 January 2024
  • Most important to note is that ONLY schools with available space will be available on the System. Note also that as each school becomes filled to capacity, it will be auto-removed. The choice of schools is therefore limited
  • Parents are advised to select ONE school — the learner will be auto-placed at the selected school
  • Placement at the selected school is final
  • Documents may be submitted to selected school when schools reopen in January 2024

To begin the application process, you need to visit the official Gauteng Education Department website. Open your preferred web browser and navigate to https://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za/ to access the online application portal.

Upon reaching the Gauteng Education Department website, you will need to create an account to proceed with the application. Look for the “Register” or “Sign Up” button and click on it. Fill in the required information, such as your name, email address, and contact details, and create a secure password for your account. Make sure to remember these login credentials as you will need them for future access to the application portal.

Step 3: Login to the Application Portal
