Great Employee Programme (GemP) 2020 Fellowship ( 2 Cohort) for Young Africans
The Great Employee Programme (GemP) is a three-track semi-intensive Fellowship programme designed for young, upwardly mobile professionals.
Through the GemP, we aim to identify, engage and empower young Africans who have a propensity for workplace excellence and give them opportunities for self actualization.
THE GEMP IS PATTERNED AFTER A 3C ETHIC –
Character
Great organizations are built on the foundation of solid character. A whole GemP module is dedicated to this all important reality.
Competence
Masterclasses during the (GemP) are quite immersive. We try to give every Fellow the opportunity to hone at least one problem-solving skill
Creativity
The Great Employee Programme was birthed and nurtured on the cradle of User-centred Design. It is how we generate ideas and make decisions. It is only natural for our Fellows to discover their innate creativity while they are engaged with us.
Programme Tracks-
Currently, there are three tracks under the Great Employee Programme.
GemP Basic Track
The GemP Basic Track is a 3-week introductory track. Sessions will be facilitated by luminaries over the course of 3 weekends. Fellows will be trained in the areas of purpose, leadership and personal effectiveness.
Lessons are inspiring, research-based and thought-provoking. In some cases, conventional wisdom is challenged. The idea is to make Fellows think out of the proverbial box.
The Basic Track is free. Completion of this track is a prerequisite for advancing to the Freelancer and 5 Star tracks. Prospective Fellows who do not successfully complete the first assessment within the stipulated time may not be eligible for advancement to the other tracks.
FELLOWS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ADVANCING TO THE OTHER TRACKS WOULD BE NOTIFIED (IF ELIGIBLE) AND REQUIRED TO CONFIRM THEIR INTEREST.
Optional (Basic GemP) certificates are available for a token of NGN1,000 ($2) only.
GemP Freelancer Track
The GemP Freelancer Track will last for 2 weeks. The focus of this track is on essential life skills which are required for thriving as a professional. A soft skills clinic will also be organized during the Freelancer track with a focus on effective communication and the art of negotiation.
The Freelancer track is paid. Fellows who successfully complete this track would however be eligible for an upgrade to the 5-Star Track (which offers paid internship opportunities).
The GemP Freelancer Track costs NGN2,500 ($5) only.
GemP 5-Star Track
The GemP 5 Star Track is the ultimate GemP Track. Offered in partnership with Thought in Motion™, it offers the possibility of bagging the highly sought-after PivotAfrica 5-Star Employee (PA5SE) Certificate. Employees who have this certificate typically have an edge over their counterparts.
Fellows who want to attain the 5 Star status must firstly complete the Basic and Freelancer tracks. Paid internships are made available to the best performing Fellows.
This track is somewhat competitive and there are no guarantees of getting the internship – only the very best are selected – or of getting the PA5SC as the standards for getting it are uncompromisingly high. If you want an easy enough experience, it is advisable to simply stick with the Freelancer track. If selected for the internship however, you will be paid and considered for eligibility for the 5 Star designation.
Please note that work during your internship will be based on Results-Only Work Environment (ROWE) principles. Most interns will therefore be required to work virtually although some partner companies may require interns to be physically present.
The GemP 5 Star Track costs NGN5,000 ($10) only. (This cost is inclusive of the Freelancer Track).
