In line with the avowed determination of the present administration to harness the greatest resource of our country- the youths-for socio-economic empowerment and employability in this millennial period, empowerment opportunities schemes  have been put in place by the Nigerian Government and private organizations to empower citizens of the country.

These programs help combat the current high level of unemployment and poverty in the country through appropriate skill development and provision of opportunities that increase productivity within the country.

The following programmes are currently running under the NALDA initiative:

  1. FEDERAL MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS DEEL PROGRAM

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has presented it’s Digital Skills programe under the acronym -DEEL- towards racheting up the numbers of those taken out of unemployment to more profitable jobs. Nigerian youths can apply for any if the listed programmes under Deel empowerment

  • Digital Skills a. Basic/Intermediate/Advance training for 500,000 youth
  • Targeted mobile device training for 100,000 youth
  • Work experience Program (WEP) – internship opportunities: 3 months for 5,000 youth (APPLICATION NOW Open)
  • Entrepreneurship
  • NOYA

2. NPOWER (Youth empowerment program)

Despite the current high level of unemployment, harnessing Nigeria’s young demography through appropriate skill development efforts provides an opportunity to achieve inclusion and productivity within the country. Large-scale skill development is the main policy thrust of the NPower Programme.

The Npower is set to open its application by 2020 and it is divided into two categories,the Graduate and Undergraduate Category.

Graduate Category: N-POWER HEALTH, N-POWER AGRO, N-POWER TAX, N-POWER TEACH

Non Graduate Category: N-POWER KNOWLEDGE, N-POWER BUILD

3.  TONY ELUMELU FOUNDATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

The Foundation’s flagship initiative, the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme, is a 10-year, $100 million commitment to identify, train mentor and fund 10,000 entrepreneurs, capable of changing the face of business across Africa. Application are open early January each year and close by March.

4. Tony Elumelu TEF-UNDP Sahel Youth Entrepreneurship Programme

The TEF-UNDP Sahel Youth Entrepreneurship programme will train, mentor and financially support 100,000 young entrepreneurs in Africa in 10 years . The goal is to contribute to the overall target to generate at least 10million new jobs and $10 billion in new annual revenues across Africa.Application is done at  www.tefconnect.com

5. TRADERMONI

This is an empowerment program in Nigeria initiated by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) scheme. It is an interest free loan scheme targeted at petty traders ,artisans and youths across Nigeria.

For the first time, a participant is eligible to get 10 thousand Naira, after he/she repays, he get 15 then moves from that to 20, then 50 and then 100k.

6.  Leventis Foundation Agricultural  fully funded One year Training program.

In addition to the regular leventis foundation one-year agricultural training, Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) offer a variety of consultancy services and targeted short courses in several aspects agriculture e.g. Poultry production, Vegetable production, Bee-keeping, Honey production, Fish farming, Mushroom production, Value chain mapping etc.

  • The comprehensive one-year training exposes the participants to several areas of agriculture and other farm businesses.
  • Admission is open to both male and female candidates.
  • Tuition and boarding (including feeding) is provided free of charge for successful candidates throughout the duration of the course.
  • The objective of the training, which is FREE OF ALL COSTS to the beneficiaries, is to create in Nigeria, generations of committed young practical farmers who will act as catalysts for agricultural revolution in their communities.

7. Youth Initiative For Sustainable Agriculture In Nigeria (YISA)

As an empowerment program targeting the youth, this programs makes no discrimination against your level of education. Regardless of the level attained or not attained, there’s something for you in this scheme.

This program has the objective to correct, educate, encourage, inspire, train and support the youth to take up agriculture.

Agriculture is not just a development project, it’s an enterprise and this is how the scheme wants the youth to think about the program.

Nigeria Strategic Empowerment (NSE) is a developement company that help to eradicate the idea of poverty in the Nigeria among the youth and adult who are willing to change their life for better future.
