myNSFAS Portal Receives High Traffic Volume

National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) applicants had an issue of traffic that led to them not being able to access the myNSFAS portal, the Scheme has responded to its applicants.

Recently, applicants have been experiencing problems accessing the myNSFAS portal. A number of these applicants have taken their concerns to Twitter.

However, NSFAS has explained why applicants may have faced some delays while trying to access the myNsfas portal:

Please note that this is a result of many users trying to access the myNSFAS portal at once, which has caused too much traffic. Kindly try again later.

Most of these applicants are people who still want to see their responses for funding and others are trying to apply for an appeal.

The NSFAS appeal functionality has been available as of 3 February 2022.

If you have received the rejected status from NSFAS and need your application to be reconsidered, consider submitting an appeal in order to have your application reconsidered.

According to NSFAS, students must upload all required supporting documentation to substantiate the reasons for the appeal.

Appeals should be submitted within 30 days of having been assessed as ‘unsuccessful’.

To submit an appeal, you will first need to log into your ‘myNSFAS’ account, then:

    1. Click on the ‘Track Funding Progress’ option
    2. Check application progress tabs
    3. If your application status reflects an unsuccessful message, you may submit an appeal by clicking on the ‘Submit Appeal Tab’
    4. You will then be able to see the reason why your application was unsuccessful
    5. You are then allowed to motivate in writing the reasons for appealing your application status
    6. Your motivation must not exceed 1000 characters (words including spaces)
    7. Then upload certified supporting documents to support your motivation. You may submit up to 5 documents.
    8. Then click ‘Submit Appeal’

Students are advised to track the progress of the appeal on the myNSFAS account after a few days of submitting their appeals.
