IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT APPLYING:
FIRST TIME USERS
If this is the first time you are using our on-line application to apply, you will need to create an account and select a Username and Password. Applicants are prohibited from using anyone else’s already established account.
APPLY FROM YOUR OWN COMPUTER
Nassau County Civil Service Commission strongly recommends that you do not apply for Civil Service examinations from your workplace computer. This is because applicants who have filed electronically from their place of employment have reported that they have encountered fee payment and/or application submission issues.
APPLICATION RECEIVED, PAYMENT CONFIRMATION, AND APPLICATION STATUS EMAILS
If you properly submit an online application for examination through this website, you will receive all three (3) of the following emails:
1. Within minutes, an automated email from governmentjobs.com confirming application receipt will be sent to the email address used to create your online applicant account. Accordingly, you must update your account every time your email address changes.
2. Within minutes, an automated email from payconnexion.com confirming credit card payment will be sent to the email address inputted in the payment form (not applicable if you filed using the Fee Waiver option.)
3. Approximately 7 days after the filing deadline, a disposition email stating if your application has been approved, rejected, or conditionally approved will be sent from the Nassau County Civil Service Commission via governmentjobs.com to the address used to create your online applicant account.
NOTE: This message is also available in your application account. You should check for messages in your account regarding the status of your application every day. You can log into your account by clicking the Sign In icon located on the upper-right of this webpage.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your online application and fee payment are successfully submitted, to update your email address, as well as to submit any information requested in the application disposition email. If you do not receive the application received/payment confirmation emails, you have not completed the submission of your online application, you have not registered for the examination and you have not paid for the examination. As a result, you will not be permitted to participate in the examination.
It is your responsibility to provide a valid email address and to check your inbox and junk/spam folder frequently. To avoid emails going to your junk/spam folder, you must whitelist the following email extensions:
It is your responsibility to save/print all confirmations/application disposition emails. After checking both your email inbox and junk/spam folder, if you did not receive the application received/payment confirmation emails, or if you had any problems creating an account, signing in to an existing account, or experiencing any technical difficulties while signed in to your account, immediately call the Toll-Free Applicant Support telephone line at 1-855-524-5627 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM Eastern Time (this phone line is administered by Governmentjobs.com, the company that manages the applicant portal.)
Note: To successfully submit your credit/debit card payment online, an up-to-date web browser must be used. For more details, click here.
For your protection:
On-line applications are stored on a secure site. Only authorized employees have access to the information submitted.
Please note that unless otherwise specified on the examination announcement, these positions are only open to individuals who have been bona fide resident and dwellers of Nassau County for at least one year immediately preceding the advertised date of examination and maintain that residency until appointed from the eligible list established as a result of the examination.
NOTE REGARDING COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS
When a college education is required for an examination that you have selected, you must have your school send an official transcript directly to this office, if your transcript is not already on file. To download a college transcript request form, click here.
