NSFAS NEWS – The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has delivered on its commitment to distribute laptops to TVET College students. Flavius College and West Coast College shared the events on its social media platforms, as students were being presented with new laptop devices.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, also known as NSFAS, was seen delivering on its commitment in helping disadvantage students within the TVET Colleges stream.

Flavius Mareka College in Sasolburg campus confirmed through its social platforms that laptops would be distributed in the week by NSFAS. West Coast College in Malmesbury in the Western Cape has also thanked the NSFAS through its social media platforms for the laptop initiative program.

West Coast College confirmed to have received the laptops and it said this is in preparation for its decision to let students learn via online learning full time.

Today National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) delivered on its promise to give students laptops. The laptops will help students access online learning during Covid-19.

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in partnership with NSFAS has been working under pressure to ensure that disadvantaged students in TVET colleges are given laptop devices to cope with online learning requirements.

The Flavius Mareka College in the Free State province has also been seen benefiting from the promise of the laptops by NSFAS.

The online learning experience has been extremely challenging particularly for underprivileged students in TVET Colleges.

The Covid-19 experience has caused many delays within the education sector as the sector was introduced to new transitional changes of online learning. NSFAS has been working hard to bridge the gap in ensuring that students under its fund are not getting left behind.

The fund hasn’t only focused on its accustomed purpose of distributing funds to poor students but extended its work beyond that to meet student needs under the Covid-19 pandemic.
