NCDC EIS Fellowship for Media Practitioners Program 2023
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), and Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria (BA-Nigeria) led by Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs are collaborating to establish a unique training programme aimed at building the capacity of health-focused media practitioners on Basic Epidemiology, Infodemiology, and Social and Behaviour Change (SBC)/Risk Communication.
The purpose of this unique training programme is to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to health events through effective science communication, understanding of risk communication to develop SBC content, and coordinated management of misinformation.
To take part in this 4-month fellowship (one week contact every month), we ask that you complete this application form thoroughly and honestly. A selection committee will meet to score the applications against an established criteria to ensure broad geopolitical representation and diversity of participants working across different media.
The first offering of the Media-EIS fellowship will be offered to 25 media practitioners to ensure a highly participatory and interactive training. Based on learnings from this first cohort, the training consortium partners plan to learn and improve upon the curriculum for future cohorts, depending on resource availability.
Please note that media practitioners trained in this programme are expected to be integrated into the response framework of public health events in Nigeria as described in the Call for Applications.
