SUBJECT: NSFAS APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE FOR CORE BUSINESS CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Errol Mandla Makhubela as the new Executive: Core Business effective from 01 December 2023.

He will form part of the NSFAS Executive Management responsible for student applications support, quality assurance, support services, and its value-added support for optimal student experience.

Mr Makhubela is not new to the South African financial services sector. He is a trail blazer who not only kept affairs in check at the National Treasury as the Chief Director: Financial Markets and Stability, but has chaired several prominent Boards such as the Financial Sector Development and Reform Program (FSDRP World Bank Programme) as well as the SADC Exchange Control Committee on the Finance and Investment Protocol.

He has also contributed to several entities’ Boards as an ordinary Board member and in some cases as chair of sub-committees.

His qualifications include a BCom degree, with majors in Economics and Finance, a postgraduate degree in the Law of Banking and Financial Markets and a master’s in business leadership (MBL).

“Mr Makhubele’s arrival will bring much needed relief among Executives who had to multitask after the departure of our COO, Ms Nthuseng Mphahlele’, Acting CEO, Mr Masile Ramorwesi said.

NSFAS is confident that the wealth of experience Mr Makhubela possesses will bring more value to the organisation’s key operation areas where applications processing, disbursements of allowances and customer care experience are handled.

He will also be responsible for the implementation of new policies which include our intervention in as student accommodation and direct payment.

“The Board regards leadership capacity as a critical element for NSFAS to execute its mandate.

This appointment is just but one of more appointments to follow in pursuit of building a more capable team. “Mr Khosa, Chair of the NSFAS Board asserted.
