NSFAS Student Accommodation Platform Login

The NSFAS Student Accommodation Platform Login mission is to transform NSFAS into an efficient and effective provider of financial aid to students from poor and working class families in a sustainable manner that promotes access to, and success in, higher and further education and training, in pursuit of South Africa’s national and human resource development goals.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) was established in terms of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Act 56 of 1999).

The mission statement is made up of three distinct elements, which describe why NSFAS exists and the impact on the constituency:

NSFAS exists to provide financial aid to eligible students at TVET colleges and public universities;
NSFAS identifies eligible students, provides bursaries and collects past student loan repayments to replenish the funds available for future generations of students; and,
NSFAS supports access to, and success in, higher education and training for students from poor and working class families who would otherwise not be able to afford to study.

A model public entity that provides financial aid to all eligible public university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students from poor and working class families.

Accomodation Providers

Internet Connectivity
A high-speed internet connection with good cellular reception will most definitely be a value add that any student would appreciate.

Easy Maintenance
Students need practical, hard-wearing finishes, that are easy to keep clean, for example ceramic tiles instead of carpets. They do not have time to do much housekeeping.

Purpose-built student accommodation should be close to amenities such as gyms, swimming pools, coffee shops and laundry facilities.

Convenient Location
A property that offers a safe and well-lit route to campus is generally a winner. Most students don’t have cars and walk everywhere, often at night. The main objective for most students is to find accommodation that is close to food and entertainment. Secure parking for those who do have cars, bicycles or scooters is equally important.

Well Equipped
Furnished rooms should have a comfortable bed with a good quality mattress, black-out curtains, a study desk and chair, a bookcase, and a built-in cupboard. Communal areas should have comfortable seating, a kitchen with a fridge-freezer, a stove, a microwave, a kettle, and a toaster. Practical, uncluttered bathrooms that are easy to keep clean are important.

Student Safety
After a student’s basic impulse for food and appreciation… safety is paramount. The parents signing your lease need to know that you understand this! Security gates, burglar bars and potentially even an alarm system will add to the appeal of your property.

Review your Code of Conduct
When you have an approved application for a room, you will be required to sign a code of conduct governing your stay at accommodation.

Ensure your student loan will be able to cover the rent
Your rent will depend on the type of accommodation you choose and the area of the country in which you are studying. Students will have to ensure that the accommodation they select will be with the parameters of their funding allocations.

Check what’s included in your rent
When reviewing your selected accommodation, have a look to see if there are any extras included. At Student Connect you’ll be able to see how Accommodation providers have equipped rooms. Room feature lists are available on each listing, you’ll be able to see if listings are equipped with amenities such as high-speed internet, room equipment, and onsite laundry rooms.

Find your preferred choice and inquire availability
After you have created your profile, you will be able to browse Student Connect Platform to find your perfect accommodation. Find your preferred student accommodation and indicate your first choice – Once your application is submitted the Accommodation Provider will assess your application and provide you with the outcome relating to your accommodation inquiry. If you are successful, you will be presented with a lease agreement to finalize your student accommodation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Safety is our number one priority. As the preferred student accommodation platform according to NSFAS, we take safety very seriously — for both our Accommodation Providers and our Students. This is to reassure all platform users and to keep things running efficiently. To this end, we: Verify cell phone numbers Verify email addresses Moderate Accommodation Providers and ensure their listings are in line with the standards set forth by the Department of Higher Learning and Training, as well as our Terms and Conditions

We have several tips for optimising your listing to get it seen by more eyes on Student Connect. First up, be sure to have a nice, polished listing with as much description as possible and good, quality images. Be sure to include details about your amenities and highlights of your space. Having too simple of a description could put you at a disadvantage, as one missing detail could have been the make or break in a student’s decision to enquire. Also, adding quality images really sets the scene for your potential applicants and easily allows them to picture themselves in your property.

The booking process has been made to simplify the entire process of finding Student Accommodation. When you create an account with some key information, you will be sending the Accommodation Provider all the details needed to see if you are a right fit for the listing, as well as any questions you may have about the property. Once the landlord accepts your application, they will communicate with you to seal the deal. All communication is handled through the platform, ensuring the safety of all parties. The platform will generate a lease automatically with the details of the applying Student and the Accommodation Provider. The student applicant is required to sign the accompanying code of conduct to finalize the accommodation lease.
