R350 Grant News Today 20th June 2022

SASSA NEWS Sassa has urged recipients of the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to use other payment methods to collect their grants as the agency will no longer be paying grants through cash pay points.

In a statement to the media the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) announced that as from 11 May 2022 the cash pay points at which social grant recipients collected their R350 grant payments would no longer be serviced.

Sassa stated that this was out of their control and that those who collected their social grant payments from the South African Post Office (SAPO) would also be affected.

The agency advised recipients not to go to any SAPO branch to collect their grant payments, as no payments will be administered.

Instead recipients were urged to make use of alternative payment methods.

On this Sassa stated the following:

“Sassa is currently implementing contingency measures where both Sassa and SAPO staff are present at the pay points, and are assisting all clients to receive PINS, so that they can transact at the nearest retail outlets and bank ATMs.”

R350 grant recipients are advised to provide their bank account details so that Sassa can make payments directly into their own accounts.

Alternatively they can also visit: http://www.srd.sassa.gov.za and opt to receive their grant payments at one of the following retail outlets:

  •  Checkers
  • Usave
  • Shoprite
  • Pick ‘n Pay
  • Boxer

When visiting these retail outlets to collect their payment, grant recipients are encouraged to ensure that they are in possession of their Identity Documents and the cellphone number they registered with when applying for the grant because the One Time Pin number will be sent to this registered number.

In a video statement on 17 June 2022, the CEO of Sassa Busisiwe Memela-Khambula announced that payments of the R350 grants are expected to be made from 22 June 2022.

Those making use of bank accounts to receive their grant payments will have to wait two days for it to be reflected in their accounts.
