In todays latest SASSA News – November 2023 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payment dates have been verified by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). Recipients must wait until the last week of the month to get their money, just like in prior months.
SRD funds will be awarded to qualified candidates in November 2023 between November 24 and November 30, 2023.
Unlike the permanent funds that Sassa distributes, the SRD grant—also known as the R350 grant because of its monetary value—does not have set payment dates. Nonetheless, the grant has a payment week that falls on the last week of the month.
According to Sassa, payments for SRD grants are made during the last week of the month since this is when their verification process is most likely to be finished.
Although grant payments are expected to be processed during these dates, it’s crucial to remember that the funds might not actually appear in the SRD grant recipient’s bank account for a few days.
Following the processing of the payment, it will take two to three business days for the funds to appear in the client’s account.
Why Does Sassa Finish Verification Checks for SRD Grants?
Applicants must fulfill the SRD grant eligibility requirements in order to be eligible for the grant.
Candidates must live inside South Africa’s borders and be citizens of the country. The relief grant is also available to holders of special permits and permanent residents.
Grant recipients are not eligible to receive assistance from a state agency or the South African government. This covers payments from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) or benefits from the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). It’s also possible that no state institution is in charge of them.
Applicants for SRD grants cannot have bank account income exceeding R624. The funds in an applicant’s bank account are referred to as “income” when discussing the SRD grant. Should the remaining amount surpass R624, the R350 grant application shall be declined.
