SASSA latest News Updates On March Payment Issues
In todays latest SASSA News – Many recipients of social grants had difficulty during the March 2023 payment schedule implemented by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
Sassa has urged recipients to double-check their gold cards’ expiration dates as a possible cause of their inability to receive payments.
Beneficiaries whose gold cards will expire in March 2023 must now visit Post Office branches to receive their new Sassa/Postbank cards.
On Monday, 13 March 2023, they can begin picking up their new gold cards from the local Post Office branch.
Only the person whose name is on the current gold card that is set to expire will be given a replacement card by the Postal Service. Sassa has issued a warning that only those who have registered with Sassa as procurators will be able to pick up new gold cards on behalf of others.
Beneficiaries must present their valid South African identity document and their current Sassa/Postbank Gold Card, which will expire in March 2023 (03/2023), in order to receive their replacement gold card.
The following times are available for picking up your new gold card:
Beginning on Monday, March 13, 2023, Mondays and Tuesdays will be set aside to issue cards to recipients of the Disability Grant and the Old Age Grant.
Child Support Grant recipients, along with all other grant recipients, will have access to their cards every Wednesday through Saturday beginning on March 15, 2023.
Those whose gold cards are set to expire later this year need not worry, as Sassa has stated that they will continue to receive grant payments through their cards so long as they are still valid.
Funding recipients with cards that are not due to expire in March are advised against going to the Post Office to get replacement cards in March.
The Agency also mentioned that Postbank had a technical issue during the March payment period; however, Postbank has since reported that the problem has been fixed and that recipients who were unable to collect their grants during that time can do so at any time.
