In todays latest SASSA News – A survey commissioned by the Department of Social Development found that 90% of Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant recipients used their money to purchase food. 

They demonstrate the importance of the grant. The state recognised this and subsequently extended the grant by 12 months in February 2022. The grant is now scheduled to come to an end in March 2023. 

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) revealed that of the 10 million beneficiaries of the grant, more than 4 million people were deemed ineligible to receive the stats support. Also Read: SASSA News – March SRD R350 Payment Yet to be Uploaded On System

Applicants can appeal this rejection status and possibly overturn the decision from Sassa and be approved for payment. 

Sassa has now assured clients the reconsideration process is underway. 

Here’s How To Submit A Reconsideration Request Via Telephone

Step 1: Call Sassa on 0800 60 10 11 

Step 2: Select option 3

Step 3: Speak to the Sassa consultant to lodge your reconsideration request.

Be sure to have all the relevant information you may need like your ID number, name, surname and cellphone number.

Sassa has also notified clients that they are currently experiencing a delay in the reconsideration requests.

‘Sassa is working tirelessly to ensure that this matter is resolved as soon as possible’ said the agency.

Here’s How To Submit A Reconsideration Request Online

Visit the SRD Website: http://srd.sassa.gov.za

Step 1: Find the ‘Application for Reconsideration’ tab.

Step 2: Click on where it says ‘click here to apply for reconsideration’.

Step 3: You will be asked to provide your ID number and Mobile number.

Step 4: Follow the prompts to complete the reconsideration of your payment.
