SASSA News Update Today 15th December 2022

SASSA News Update – Many organizations and public servants will be leaving work early or leaving for the holidays in the coming days. Over a thousand people are worried that they won’t get their grant money this month.

The Social Security Agency of South Africa (Sassa) hands out millions of rands in welfare checks every month. Millions of people in need will have access to funds for necessities thanks to these grants.

Several businesses and government agencies are closing for the holidays as 2022 draws to a close. While Sassa will keep making awards available, there will be times when recipients can’t access their funds.

Permanent grants from Sassa are given within the first week of every new month. On Thursday, December 1, 2022, the agency resumed disbursing Older Person’s Grants.

It’s worth noting that Sassa will be handing out financial aid all through the month of December.

Sassa does not, however, hand out financial aid on Saturdays, Sundays, or federal holidays. In other words, grant recipients won’t be able to get their hands on their money at Sassa offices over the weekend or on a holiday.

On Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27, 2022, recipients of Sassa grants will not be able to pick up their payments. Because both days are national holidays, the country will be closed.

Donors should also remember that January 1, 2023, is a holiday. Since January 1st, 2023 is a Sunday, the holiday will be celebrated the following Monday, on January 2nd. To clarify, this means that grant payments under Sassa will kick off on January 3, 2023.

The PostBank asked grantees earlier this month to withdraw their funds from retail locations. This follows the cessation of ATM grant payments.
