SASSA SRD Website to Go Offline These Days

SASSA NEWSApplications for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant are done through the official SRD website. However, this application channel will temporarily be offline, here’s when you can expect the website to be unavailable.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) recently shared an announcement, stating that the website will be unavailable due to system maintenance. This system maintenance will take place on weekends:

“Please be informed that ICT will be running a series of Systems and infrastructure maintenance, this will be a process done over four weekends.”

The dates for system maintenance are as follows:

20 to 22 May (17:00 Friday to 23:00 Sunday)

27 to 29 May (17:00 Friday to 23:00 Sunday)

10 to 12 June (17:00 Friday to 23:00 Sunday)

24 to 26 June (17:00 Friday to 23:00 Sunday)

Beneficiaries are urged to take note of these dates and times as the SRD website will not be available. Sassa has since apologized for the inconvenience to be experienced by its clients during this period.

According to Sassa CEO Totsie Memela, they have received over 7 million applications for the R350 SRD grant.

This group of beneficiaries will benefit from the grant should they have a threshold of R350, as stated in the Social Assistance Act, which is being used under the new regulation after the state of disaster was lifted in South Africa.

Applicants can use Sassa’s alternative application channels to submit applications while the SRD website is unavailable.
