South Africa Judicial Service Commission shortlisted candidates & Interview
SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITION OF CHAIRPERSON OF THE WATER TRIBUNAL
On 24 November 2022 the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr S Mchunu MP, published a notice in the Government Gazette and in national newspapers calling for nominations to fill, amongst others, the position of Chairperson of the Water Tribunal. Nomination of candidates for the vacancy of Chairperson of the Water Tribunal closed on 2 December 2022.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is empowered by the National Water Act, 1998 to recommend a candidate to the Minister for appointment as Chairperson of the Water Tribunal. The JSC received 20 nominations by the closing date. On 30 January 2023, the Screening Committee of the JSC shortlisted the following candidates to be interviewed for the vacancy:
1. Adv Zaheera Hoosen
2. Adv Puseletso Loselo
3. Mr Thembelani Attwell Nkele and
4. Adv Dawid Welgemoed
The JSC will interview the shortlisted candidates at its sitting during the week of 17 to 21 April 2023. The shortlisted candidates will be notified of the exact date, time and venue for the interviews in due course.
In recognition of the principles of transparency and openness, any interested person may comment on the suitability or otherwise of a shortlisted candidate.
