The Art Center Fund for Emerging Photography in Haiti 2024. A new call for applications is launched as part of the Fund for Emerging Photography in Haiti (FPEH) this Tuesday, November 7, 2023 , in order to select two winners in December 2023. This call will remain open to applications until December 5, 2023 . The FPEH wants to support promising Haitian photographers in the realization or pursuit of a coherent photographic project which can aim for journalistic objectives or respond to documentary or artistic imperatives.
The conceptualization and research work at the heart of these projects must be clearly explained within the FPEH application file, which rewards projects carried out by photographers (and not the media) over the long term. Applications can be submitted individually or collectively, by people between 20 and 35 years old.
In addition to financial support, this scholarship includes one-year mentoring with internationally recognized photography professionals. For this edition, it is the photographer Karl Joseph and the curator and editor Jeanne Mercier . The FPEH also ensures visibility of the work carried out, in Haiti and abroad, through the publication of a brochure.
Before the transfer of the Fund to the Art Center, FOKAL was committed for many years to supporting the development of photojournalism and documentary photography in Haiti, through the organization of workshops, the support of collective works, magazines, the organization of exhibitions and residencies for young Haitian photographers. With the Art Center, the Fund for Emerging Photography in Haiti will continue to support this approach by supporting individual or collective work over a longer period than reports, produced in Haiti or in its diaspora by young Haitian photographers and Haitian women with a promising career.
