University of Cape Town (UCT) Launches Online High School in Partnership with Valenture Institute
The University of Cape Town (UCT) is excited about it’s new initiative in partnership with Valenture Institute. This venture is the first not only in South Africa but the African continent as a whole.
The University of Cape Town (UCT), which is the most desired and sought-after university in South Africa, and Africa as a whole, has launched an Online High School in Partnership with Valenture Institute.
This initiative is inspired by UCT’s commitment to transformation and quality education for all South Africans.
UCT’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mamokgethi Phakeng, recognizes that we live in two South Africas, the one for those who have, and those who have not as she said:
The UCT Online High School is an expression of the massive transformative purpose we have committed to in UCT’s Vision 2030 – to unleash human potential for a fair and just society. It is also a practical way of demonstrating that UCT wants to be not only the best university in South Africa but also the best for South Africa.
This means students who can’t afford the quality of private school education or schools in their area are poorly equipped, will now benefit from this initiative.
Learners will study at their own pace and the content will be easily researchable and can be downloaded for offline access.
The complete curriculum of the UCT High School will be easily accessible as an open education resource throughout South Africa. The high school seeks to improve the quality of education as one of the most affordable and accessible private schools in South Africa.
Prof Phakeng shares that the UCT High School Initiative is geared up and ready for the 2022 intake.
The approval by the UCT Council to proceed with this exciting initiative means that we are on a tight deadline with the Valenture Institute to implement this new venture in time for the 2022 learner intake.
The Chief Executive of Valenture Institute, Robert Paddock, expresses his excitement for the successful implementation and partnership with the most sought-after university in African continent and said:
“Bold moves are required to address the many challenges facing the education sector in South Africa. We are thrilled to partner with UCT to launch this timely initiative to become the first University on the African continent to extend its expertise and impact to the secondary schooling market through an innovative online modality.”
The UCT Online High School will also be covering candidates that failed their matric year and would like an opportunity to repeat.
