I. DEFINITION OF TERMS:
1. USTAR Score
The University of Santo Tomas Admission Rating (USTAR) Score is an admission rating score derived from a set of algorithms developed in assessing each applicant’s credentials in relation to the programs or strand they are applying for. USTAR Scores range from 5000 to 13300.  An applicant’s USTAR score for their priority program may be different from their USTAR score in their alternative program since different programs may give different weights on factors deemed important for that program.
2. QUALIFIED
The USTAR Score of the applicant met the USTAR cut-off score set by the Academic Unit (College, Faculty, Institute, or School) for the program or strand they applied for.  (Note: Each program and strand have their own cut-off scores depending on the level of competency required of their students.)
3. FOR SECOND SCREENING
The applicant passed the USTAR cut-off score set by the Academic Unit for the program and is qualified for second screening. This could be in the form of an interview, essay exam, or online drawing exam. Refer to the instructions indicated in your results for details. (Note: Qualifying for second screening does not guarantee admission since acceptance into the selected program also requires passing the second screening as it is part of the application process.)
4. ON-WAITING LIST
Although the USTAR score of the applicant met the required cut-off score set by the Academic Unit for the program or strand of choice, because of quota limitations, they shall have to wait for further instructions and can only be considered if slots are still available.Â
5. DID NOT MEET CUT-OFF SCORE
The USTAR Scores of the applicant did not meet the required cut-off scores set by the Academic Unit for the programs (both priority and alternative) or strand of choice.
6. PRIORITY PROGRAM
This is the program that the applicant prefers to be admitted to. This is their primary interest in which they intend to further their knowledge and skills.
7. ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM
In case the applicant does not meet the cut-off USTAR score of their priority program, they will be considered in their alternative program subject to the USTAR requirement set by the Academic Unit.  Once an applicant qualifies in their priority program, their alternative program is no longer processed.
