The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), is pleased to announce its call for applications for a half-day online training on Communication Skills and Strategies for CSOs in West Africa.
The training seeks to provide CSOs in West Africa with skills to strategically and effectively tell their stories. This will enable beneficiary organisations to enhance their visibility and become more savvy communicators who can get things done in their respective countries.
TRAINING OBJECTIVE
The overall training objective is to sharpen the communication skills of CSOs across the region. Participants will gain basic practical and technical skills to promote their organisation’s visibility, using the online portal (www.csowestafrica.org). A website dedicated to all civil society organisations in West Africa to serve as a central information hub and contribute to their long-term visibility. Participants will also sharpen their communication skills through experiential activities and practical lessons they can apply immediately.
Target Audience
The training is mainly targeted at all legitimate CSOs operating in West Africa and registered on the West Africa CSOs E-directory platform. This will consist of civil society actors including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society organisations (CSOs), faith-based organisations (FBOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), trade unions and professional associations.
Conditions for Participation
Although the training is open to all legitimate CSOs in West Africa, applicants must demonstrate their commitment to using the skills to enhance the visibility of their organisations.
Applicants will be accepted for the training based on the following:
Must be a staff of a legally registered organisation operating in any of the countries on the directory (Cameroon, Tchad, Mauritania and ECOWAS member states);
Must be registered on the West Africa Civil Society E-directory Platform (http://www.csowestafrica.org/);
Applicants must commit to submitting at least one article per month over six months on their organisation’s timeline on the directory. During this period, WACSI will provide mentorship to participants enrolled in this programme.
Participants should have access to good internet connection;
Participants should have a skype address.
Expected Outcome
Key outcomes of the online training will include;
- Participants will be able to develop communication strategies for their organisations;
- Participants will be able to develop appropriate website content;
- Participants will know how to navigate the e-directory and use it to boost the visibility of their organisations.

Selected organisations will be virtually supported to develop communication strategies for their organisation;
Participants will be provided with resources that can help promote their visibility;
Profiling of operational CSOs for strategic positioning to potential donors;
