What PYEI BEEI EA’s and GA’s Phase 4 Reading Champion Does

PYEI BEEI EA’s and GA’s Phase 4 has commenced training has commenced and will soon reach its deadline for beneficiaries yet to do so.

Phase four of the PYEI officially began in February of 2023.

The youth that are participating are brand new batch that hasn’t participated in any of the three previous Phases before.

Recently these PYEI Education Assistants or General School (EA’s and GA’s) have been selected for two categories. Reading champions and Curriculum. Since its selection, alot of beneficiaries have been asking the questions to what functions does the reading champion does, here we bring your comments from beneficiaries who seems to know a thing or two about the programme.

  • At my school our reading champion stays in the library and also goes to classes.
  • We Teach students how to read,mostly when teachers are not around
  • We take care of students at school , if they are sick you should see when they have problems you talk to them.
  • I do everything honestly speaking it’s not abt job description I do admin job, teach , sports n library work

  • Being a Reading Champ is a huge Challenge, remember you can not steal the teachers time learners has to be in class so you have to find a strategy to be able to accommodate the teachers and learners.
  • Most of the time I get into classes to read for kids and help those who are struggling with reading
  • I teach, read with learners and help them read, mark register from grade R to grade 7 and other and also admin
