As part of the ongoing rationalization of government Ministries, the Youth Development Fund (YDF) was transferred from the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture (MYSC) to the Ministry of Entrepreneurship (MOE). The Latter Ministry is a new Ministry established in 2022/23 as a result of the ongoing rationalization exercise with the mandate of providing leadership and policy direction in business and entrepreneurship development.
Due to the handling of transitionary issues of the YDF program and as part of the handover exercise, MOE and MYSC have taken a decision to retain the YDF at the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture (MYSC) for the financial year 2023/24.
The government recognizes the centrality of the YDF to its efforts to improve the lives of young people and to the aspirations of the nation. As the Ministry of Entrepreneurship finalizes its functional and deployment structures, the two Ministries are of the view that government services to the public cannot be put on hold.
Therefore, MYSC shall open applications for the YDF from 31st JuIy 2023. A notice to this effect shall be duly communicated to the public, with all the necessary information.
