How to Monitor and Check Your HELB Loan Status
In today’s latest HELB News – If you are a Kenyan who has applied for a loan from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), would you like to track the progress of your application?
Please refer to the following instructions to determine whether your loan application was accepted and disbursed:
- Go to the HELB webpage
- On “loan status,” click
- When you click “Disbursement,” a form displaying the status of your loan disbursement will appear.
Check the amount awarded and the date of disbursement.
As an alternative, you can check the status of your HELB loan disbursement OR application by using the HELB USSD code: *642#.
- Pick the login option.
- Select the loan application and distribution process.

- Regarding the status of your loan disbursement, you will get an SMS.
HELB’s objective is to provide financial support to deserving Kenyan students enrolled in higher learning institutions (approved by the Commission for University Education). Both Government Sponsored and Self Sponsored Students (SSP) are eligible for the HELB Undergraduate Loans. However, for SSP students, all the payments are done directly to the institution’s account as tuition while Government Sponsored students receive upkeep payment in their individual bank accounts and tuition payment (directly to the institution’s account) of KES. 4,000 per semester.
