Zambia Education Minister Postpone Opening of Schools for 2024 term One – Opening of Schools for the 2024 term One School calendar has been postponed further from 29th January to 12th February.
Education Minister Hon. Douglas Syakalima has announced.
The Minister said the decision to further postpone the reopening date of Schools was made at a meeting held by the national disaster management and mitigation council of ministers held on Wednesday 24th January 2024.
Hon. Syakalima said the Ministry of Education was guided at the meeting to further postpone the opening date to 12th February 2024.
On 4th January 2024, the Minister of Education announced the postponement of the date of reopening of Schools from 8th to 29th January 2024 due to the cholera outbreak in the country.
Addressing the press at his Office, Hon Syakalima said in order to recover the lost time, the school calendar for 2024 for all public, private, aided and community schools has been adjusted.
“Schools and colleges will open for term one on Monday 12th February 2024 and will close on Friday 26th April 2024.schools and colleges will open for term two on Monday 6th may 2024 and will close on Friday 9th august 2024.” Hon. Syakalima said.
The Education Minister added that for term three, schools and colleges will open for term three on Monday 2nd September 2024 and will close on Friday 6th December 2024.
The Minister urged the nation to continue using the alternative modes of learning that have been put in place by the Ministry of Education. #moecommunication.
