Zambia Recruitment of 11 000 Health Workers Begins
The ZAMBIA Ministry of Health says the recruitment exercise for the 11,000 health workers has started.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services LACKSON KASONKA says the exercise is being done methodically and systematically.
Professor KASONKA says currently, the ministry is trying to establish the areas of need. He has called on health workers to be patient because government wants to ensure the process is done correctly.
Professor KASONKA made the remarks in response to a media query that a group of unemployed doctors is planning to stage a protest over the delay to start the recruitment process.

And Professor KASONKA said 303 pupils have tested positive to Covid-19 from the time schools opened on January 24, 2022. He advised parents and guardians not to allow children with Covid symptoms to go to school but take them to health facilities.
Professor KASONKA said the Ministry of Health is working in partnership with the Ministry of Education to enhance surveillance in schools.
Meanwhile, Zambia National Public Health Institute Acting Director, KUNDA MUSONDA said 40 thousand 7 hundred and one children between 12 and 17 years have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Speaking at the same event, Health promotion Environment and Social Determinants Director ABEL KABALO appealed to parents with children in boarding schools to fill the consent forms for them to be vaccinated.
